Single Circuit Monorail System

Pre-packaged Besa Monorail Kits contain everything you need for most basic installations. Besa Monorail kits have a maximum capacity of 150 watts or 300 watts at 12 volts. The LED kit can support up to 9 elements. Then choose from hundreds of pendant and spotlight options.

A Besa Monorail Kit is perfect if:

Your ceiling is only 8 to 10 feet high

Your ceiling is level and not sloped

You want to add no more than six 50W or eight 35W pendant or spotlight elements

Your ceiling box is located where you plan to install the system, so you don't require a remote transformer

Single Circuit Monorail System

Besa low voltage monorail system can be hand shaped in the field and designed and cut to navigate curves for custom designs. Besa Monorail has a maximum capacity of 600 watts at 12 volts.

Design your rail.

Determine what you want to light.
Decide where track heads, pendants or both will be placed to direct light where you want it.
Design the Monorail run, connecting the lights.
Monorail can be shaped to follow room architecture or create an organic shape.
You can sketch out your room on paper. Draw in your lights, then decide how you want to design the track to suspend them.
You could use string to lay out your design on the floor to determine your length, especially if you have an especially curvy run.
Rail is available in connectable four or eight foot sections to be bent in the field as needed or used as a straight section. All rail pieces are field-cuttable and bendable.
Isolating connectors allow you to switch and dim sections of rail separately.
Choose a finish; Satin Nickel or Bronze.

Determine your mounting.

Determine how far from the ceiling you would you like your rail to run.
Besa Monorail can be installed nearly flush to the ceiling or hang up to 60".
Rail can be curved horizontally or vertically, to run up and down.
Rigid or cable suspensions mount to flat or sloped ceilings using rigid, swivel or adjustable cable standoffs.
Use 2 supports per 4 foot section and at least 3 per 8 foot section.
The total number of supports depends on the shape of the track layout.
The power feed counts as a support.
Systems with very unique shapes or many pendants may require additional supports.

Choose your lights.

Decide where the fixtures should be installed to put light where you want it.
Select from an array of low voltage track heads and pendants.
Besa spotlights have a standard stem 1.5" long. For a spotlight with a longer drop, lights can be ordered with a stem length of 6", 12" or 18".
Pendants ship with 10' field cuttable cable.
Select from any Besa Monorail Pendants and Monorail Spotlight Elements.

Select your transformer.

Add up the wattage from the lights you have chosen.
Select a visible surface mount transformer or a hidden remote transformer with remote feed canopy.
- A 60W Low-profile LED surface Monorail Power Supply powers up to 9 x 6 watt LED elements
- A 150W Electronic Surface Monorail Transformer powers up to 3 x 50W or 4 x 35W elements
- A 300W Long Life Magnetic Remote or Surface Monorail Transformer powers up to 6 x 50W or (8) 35W elements
- A 600W Long Life Magnetic Remote Monorail Transformer powers up to 12 x 50W or (16) 35W elements
Surface mount transformers install directly to a standard junction box.
Smaller electronic surface mount transformers are well suited for small runs.
Magnetic surface mount tranformers have a higher wattage capacity.
Remote mount magnetic transformers have even larger capacity. They can be installed further away, in an attic or closet.
Magnetic transformers minimize any voltage drop potential.
