As early as 1931, the Czech artist Heinrich Hoffmann created a Moravian Star of art glass. Original Pairpoint Puffy table lamps regularly sell for over $3,500. One Rose Reverse Painted Pairpoint Puffy table lamp recently sold at auction for nearly $15,000. The Pairpoint Corporation of New Bedford, Massachusetts created these lamps with these reverse hand-painted from around 1907 to 1929.

Puffy shades are made by blowing glass into a dimensional mold. Then the shade is often acid or sand finished for a frosted effect before layers of paint are applied to the interior of the glass.

Meyda recreates quality reproductions of the original puffy glass shades and pairs them with their authentic reproduction bases. Every Meyda item is a unique, handcrafted work of art. Meyda is a family-run business making lighting in Upstate New York, USA since the early 1900s.

In 1920, Museum of International Folk Art founder, Florence Dibell Barlett first visited New Mexico and stayed at the well-known San Gabriel Ranch. In the 1930's she bought and lovingly restored the 70-acre ranch renaming it El Mirador. Ms. Bartlett loved bright colors and light-filled rooms so she added a number of stained glass windows. The glass maker adapted her favorite Native American beadwork patterns into the designs. The window over the front door provided the inspiration for this piece
